In 2014, Jonathan Yaffe applied his 10 years of prior engineering employment to start Javelin Mech from a rented cubicle, practicing resourcefulness and financial awareness in all business decisions.
Jonathan’s passion was building a company to lead automotive engineering projects to the highest standards for small businesses who wanted the best, while harnessing online collaboration tools to serve customers any place, any time.
Our first project, for a startup business 2,000 miles away, was successfully designing and testing a prototype of an internal structure for a backpack carrying ammunition containers.
In 2015, Jonathan began studying U.S. markets that would provide business growth in automotive engineering projects; by late 2016, Javelin Mech was relocated to Tucson, AZ to be within the Aftermarket Automotive mecha of Southern California-Arizona-Nevada.
By 2018, we had three employees doing automotive engineering work for five customers and subleased office space in a customer’s building, who had in-house Sheet Metal, Welding, CNC Machining, and Robotic capabilities.
This new office allowed us to quickly prototype customer designs and see results of practicing design for manufacture & assembly (DFMA) in-person.
In 2020, Covid Pandemic shutdowns impacted our customers and stunted business growth. However, despite business contraction, by end of 2020, we purchased our first 3D printer, 3D scanner and reverse engineering software to advance our services and develop better products for our customers.
In 2023, we invested over $22,000 in engineering literature, new test engineering tools, quality inspection tools, and software, as part of Javelin Mech’s mission to take our customers’ engineering further!
